We
have reported here previously on the controversial case of the so-called "Jena Six," a group of black high school students in a Louisiana town who were arrested and faced unusually harsh charges after an assault on a white schoolmate. Charges against two of the Six -- Carwin Jones and Theo Shaw --
were reduced today from attempted second-degree murder to aggravated second-degree battery. But it's doubtful that gives great comfort to them and their loved ones: Mychal Bell, another of the Six who was tried on those same reduced charges in June and convicted by an all-white jury, still faces as much as 22 years in prison when he is sentenced later this month, even though he was a juvenile at the time the incident took place. Robert Bailey Jr. and Bryant Purvis still face attempted murder charges, and another youth faces undisclosed juvenile charges. Bailey also faces firearm theft charges for wrestling away a gun from a white youth who brandished it during an argument outside a local convenience store and refusing to return it. The white youth was not charged.

What can we do??? Why cannot these young people just serve community service or serve probation... White teenagers can steal each others cds, break in to each others homes, and even fight each other without even the cops being called. I know I was a young white teenager. I am from the Deep South, Washington, GA but never would anyone be treated this way. Violence is wrong, the provation of it is wrong. Why can not the justice system realize that the use of nooses is provocation of violence... if anyone needs jail time are these young WASP!!! Please America lets do something real... Please drop all charges against these young men. OBVIOUSLY Jena,LA needs to been to have dialogues regarding how resolve problems PEACEFULLY. Do this parents of the white children realize what an injustice they have done to society. They should be jailed, for failing their children... for teaching racism and encouraging violence.
I strongly feel America should work hard on the saying,United we Stand. What happened to the meaning of such wisdom.Even though the rope was offensive so are many other thing's.
For example: It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand.
We all desire the right to prosper and have what our efforts merit. However for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction.I don't see how anyone can say well stuff like this happens all the time so let's give them community service, these are the thoughts that allow this type of behavior to germinate and continue. For the Love of God please. If White America and Black America only relised that if we United as One culture instead of 2 we would be unstoppable.
why is anyone calling them innocent? they beat the crap out of someone- 6 on 1. and by the way- white kids do get into trouble when they break the law. it doesn't really have much to do with color. it has more to do with wether or not the people in charge of them hold them accountable. for the simple fact that the jena6 decided to jump on the guy with 6 against 1, they should do some time. i don't feel sorry for them. they are just a bunch of @#! punks!
Yes,
It is resonable to expect them to be punished for what they did ,but sometimes enough is enough and people have to take action steps in the course of liberty and equality.I feel the intent was obviously to stand up for freedom ,however the course of action was more of an emotional one,and ot well thought out.I also feel the same point could have been made other way's.
Hello,
I am concerned that we are going to bee to busy fighting each other that when the real enemy shows it's true colors we will lose.We really need to do a better job with living with each other as true human brothers.

In the mindes off ourselfs we are all better than the next, let's just hope we do an sufficient job at making our next generation better than us.

I feel they have done the right thing so far.I do belive the punishment should be memorable, but again they are teenagers and there minds almost control them at that age.I say we give them some sort of punishment.
For Example:In house comfinement for 30 day's.
Make them and there parents clean-up graffitti, trash or work on a garbage truck for the summer and the money they would have earned would go to the Red Cross or something. But to jail them just may be to harsh. Some sort of Stricked Probation.

I feel if the truth be known, the powers that be want a degree of turmoil in the peole as they then would be divided, distracted from the truth.Wake up America they are Afraid of black people and white people getting along. We really could well use your imagination.
Carefully Minded,
To my fellow Veretans who lost there life in battle, the world is a lessor place without them.I only hope that one day the world becomes a better place because of them.
