Floozies in the lobby*

Posted by R. Neal

Following the theme of posts titled with song lyric snippets and links to Think Progress, here's an astonishing report on the increase in lobbying activity over the past, uhm, few years.

The most amazing statistic: Number of congressional earmarks in FY1996: 958. Number of congressional earmarks in FY2005: 14,000.

*Bonus points for anyone who can name source of that lyric (without googling).

Correct, but it is the Captain (Beefheart) doing the vocal. "Floozies in the lobby love the way I sell. Hot rats, hot cats, hot zits, hot pits"
