Houston Has a Problem

Last December, the Dallas Morning News (reg req’d) uncovered anomalies in Houston school district test scores: it seemed that the Bush Administration’s No Child Left Behind initiative, with its threat of sanctions for schools with low scores on standardized tests, was driving some teachers to help students cheat on the tests. Now there’s proof. After a lengthy investigation, the Houston superintendent just fired teachers at four schools. (See our intern Jacob Dagger’s post about this back in March.)
