Calling All Southern Bloggers!

Are you a progressive Southern blogger? Know of a good blog operating from the Southland? As mentioned here last week and in an announcement in DKos today, here at the Institute we're making a first stab at compiling a list of progressive Southerners in the blogosphere.

Nominations are welcome in the comments below or by writing to us here.

Southern progressive bloggers unite!

I'll probably miss a bunch of them, but here are my nominations:

Redneck Feminist
http://redneckfeminist.blogspot.com/

South Knox Bubba (also has a list called Rocky Top Brigade of progressive southern bloggers)
http://www.southknoxbubba.net/skblog/

Tennessee Guerilla Women
http://www.guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/

Tiny Cat Pants
http://tinycatpants.blogspot.com/

Thought Crimes
http://thoughtcrimes.org/mt/

Thoughts of an Average Woman
http://toaaw.typepad.com/toaaw/

Like I said, I'm sure I'm missing a bunch and I don't know what part of the country everyone I read is, but these come to mind right away, and if I think of anymore, I'll be back.

There used to be a giant list of progressive bloggers by state at the American Street (http://www.reachm.com/amstreet/) but I don't see the link anywhwere. Oh well.

Just found you from Pam's House Blend, who I just found from the NC-cross-burning outrage...

Include me, if you please, in the progressive and Southern list. http://redhairblackleather.blogspot.com

Thanks, Ginger for the plug.

Here is the link to States Writes:
http://www.reachm.com/amstreet/states-writes.htm#SW

But, it doesn't look to have been updated recently (it has my old URL).

Another blog that should be listed is Pam's Houseblend
http://www.pamspaulding.com/weblog

Jeff mentions her blog, but didn't provide the URL.

Good luck compiling the list!

I forgot to add that besides States Writes, there is the site Irregular States found at http://www.irregularnews.com/states/

I don't know how comprehensive their listings for each state is, but it should be a good starting point also.

here is one for Mississippi,

the progressive segment is ritalin for the left

http://homepage.mac.com/reillymorse/iblog/

the rest is the general interests of a painter forced to make a living as a lawyer in the south. Luckily there is a fair amount of public interest environmental work here.

you also might find interesting the blog of a female minister in the south called st. casserole. it is mostly about ministry and personal observations but it leads in some interesting directions.

Hi-

I'm an extremely progressive blogger located in Kentucky. My blog is called The-Goddess, http://the-goddess.org/blog/index.html

I also run What She Said! http://whatshesaid.the-goddess.org/ which is primarily a directory of progressive women who blog politics, though we recently added a conservative women's list as well.
